INTRODUCTION

This is a nationally recognised Controlling Lifting Operations qualification aimed at individuals who carry out lifting supervisor duties in lifting operations (e.g., guiding crane operators, attaching/detaching loads) and are typically employed as a lifting supervisor.

A candidate should be employed in a role involving slinging and signalling tasks with access to real work activities, tools, and equipment related to lifting operations. Candidates should also be able to demonstrate competence on-site through practical performance and knowledge evidence.

To enrol in this course, candidates must have completed training in either a NPORS or CPCS accredited training course and hold the relevant red trained card. Candidates will have a minimum 6 months experience on-site, carrying out lifting duties, ensuring lifting operations are carried out safely, providing safe direction and supervision.

Upon successful completion of the SCQF Level 5 in Controlling Lifting Operations: Slinging/Signalling (Construction), candidates are eligible to apply for either:

- a CPCS Blue Competent Operator Card or
- an NPORS Competent Operator Card

provided they also hold a valid (in-date) CITB Health, Safety and Environment (CSCS touchscreen) test.

This qualification supports career progression into advanced roles within lifting operations and can be a stepping stone towards supervisory or managerial positions in the construction industry.

You will have your own dedicated assessor, who will support and assist you throughout your qualification. Our Assessors are fully committed to helping you at every stage of your qualification. Your assessor will give guidance, whilst you build your own portfolio of evidence and knowledge tasks, while carrying out your day-to-day work activities.

GRANT FUNDING AVAILABLE

CITB AND APPRENTICESHIP FUNDING

A £1500 CITB grant is available for CITB registered companies. Tala Training, as an approved training organisation (ATO) can offer guidance and support with grant claims.

Completion of this qualification through the Modern Apprenticeship route in Scotland, will allow companies registered and working in Scotland, to claim grant funding of £3500 per candidate.
